The Emergence of Bar Kitchen
March 6, 2023
Gunjan Das, Principal Architect, N. G. Associates talks about Bar Kitchen as an emerging kitchen trend in Bengaluru
Kitchen design in metros has undergone a lot of changes over the years. Rising aspirations, an influx of migrating populations, and changing socio-economic dynamics – all have influenced this evolution of kitchen design.
From a functional space, the kitchen has evolved to become a part of the user's lifestyle. This has given rise to the two-kitchen trend – a separate wet and dry kitchen. While the dry open kitchen is the centrepiece of the house, the main wet kitchen is tucked in a corner.
Now, in upscale residences, another kitchen is becoming popular. This is for those clients who host a lot of house parties and get together at home. It is not a full-fledged kitchen but rather an elaboration of the bar. It is also useful for arranging tea and coffee meet. You could also bring in a chef who will put things together. This is a very recent trend and it’s more of an experience for the users.
